Stephen is a movement director, choreographer, intimacy coordinator, and creature movement specialist, with a career spanning over 20 years across theatre, television, and film.

Originally from Ireland, Stephen graduated from London Contemporary Dance School before embarking on a global performance career, collaborating with renowned creatives such as Akram Khan, Polly Bennett, Alex Reynolds, and Damien Jalet. His work has been featured in major TV shows, including Ted Lasso, House of the Dragon, and The Witcher, as well as in films such as Aquaman 2, The Northman, and Lady Chatterley’s Lover, where he contributed to choreography, creature movement, and intimacy movement. His screen work also includes fight choreography for the short film Flint for the BBC.

In theatre, Stephen has most recently worked on The Boy as well as The God and His Daughter at The Abbey Theatre, Dublin, directed by Caitríona McLaughlin and written by Marina Carr. He was the associate choreographer cover for Elektra in the West End, working alongside Brie Larson and Stockard Channing. Other credits include choreography and movement direction on productions such as the UK tour of Frankenstein, The School for Scandal and Spitfire Girls with Tilted Wig, supported by the National Theatre.

Stephen has also worked on commercials and music videos with production companies including Object & Animal, Riff Raff Films, and Greatcoat Films, as well as institutions such as The Barbican.

Known for his collaborative approach, Stephen’s work is deeply rooted in storytelling through movement. He works closely with performers, directors, and creative teams to craft visually striking and emotionally resonant performances. His process emphasises the creation of a safe and experimental environment for performers to explore their physicality, ensuring every movement serves the narrative.

Stephen has taught movement at several leading institutions, including Rose Bruford, Drama Studio London, and Trinity Laban. He is a qualified Mental Health First Aider and a certified Wellbeing Coordinator for the Screen Sector through University College Cork and Screen Ireland. He is also a certified Intimacy Coordinator through NFTS. Additionally, he co-hosts the Shapes in Motion podcast, exploring movement and performance across theatre, film, and screen.
